Payer Exchange Summit VII
This fall, COA will host the seventh Payer Exchange Summit on Oncology Payment Reform dedicated to advancing payment reform in cancer care. Held twice a year, the Summit series brings together community oncology practices, local and national health insurers, employers, employer coalitions, and more, to share ideas that will make payment reform a reality. The goal of the Payer Exchange Summit series is to enable networking and idea sharing for how patients with cancer can receive high quality and cost-efficient care.
About the Payer Exchange Summit Series
The Payer Exchange Summit is designed to facilitate an open, frank dialogue between those who give cancer care and those who pay for cancer care. We want to better share what is – and is not – working with oncology payment reform efforts and what can be done to help those efforts succeed.
Since the first Payer Exchange Summit held in 2014, numerous oncology payment reform initiatives have become a reality in both the public (Medicare) and private sectors, including the successfully completed COME HOME project. Today the primary focus of the oncology community is on successful implementation of the Oncology Care Model (OCM), and attempts to align Medicare, private payers, and providers in one national model.
2017 Summit Focus: The OCM and OCM 2.0
A central focus of the 2017 Payer Exchange Summit will be progress-to-date and early learnings in the OCM. The Summit will continue in-depth discussions of COA’s proposed ‘OCM 2.0’ model which addresses several issues identified by current participants. COA will be unveiling very specific, detailed plans for the OCM and how value-based payments might be incorporated for services and drugs.
During a pre-Summit day dedicated solely to the OCM, attendees will hear from teams participating in the project. Panels will host discussions on various aspects of the OCM – what’s working, what’s not, and what are we learning so far.
The seventh COA Payer Exchange Summit on Oncology Payment Reform will be held October 23-24, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency in Tysons Corner, Virginia.
When and Where:
October 23-24, 2017

Who can attend:
In order to ensure a high-quality dialogue, the Payer Exchange Summit series is an invitation-only event. Providers and payers, especially specific “teams” of providers and payers, including employers and groups representing employers, working together on payment reform projects, as well as those interested in pursuing such projects, will attend by invitation only.
Additionally, as integral stakeholders in payment reform discussions, pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors, diagnostic test providers, and other industry stakeholders are invited to participate in this discussion of quality and value in cancer care.
