The Stop Cancer Care Cuts Petition has reached the 20,000 mark.  The emails and comments coming in show a deep concern for the continuous cuts to cancer care and the impact they are already having on patient access and care.

Please ask all of your colleagues and fellow staff to SIGN the petition by going to http://www.communityoncology.org/coa-petition/ at the COA website. Then, please FORWARD the email to all of your contacts to sign and then forward the petition request. A suggested email can be accessed on the petition page (go to the bottom of the page and click on the button).

On the COA website at http://www.communityoncology.org under Immediate Action Needed are materials for practices to download, which include a 1-page flyer and an actual paper petition. These materials are provided at the request of practices that report doing the following:

  • Including the flyers and actual paper petitions in all sign-in, waiting, and treatment areas. (Instructions are on the paper petition as to where they can be faxed.)
  • Distributing the flyers and petitions throughout the community, especially at cancer-related events.
  • Making computers available in the waiting areas to allow people to sign the petition online.

We have input from people about sending out email requests to all of their contacts to sign and forward the petition. Also, people are posting the link to the petition site on their Facebook pages. Visit COA on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/CommunityOncologyAlliance and become a fan!

Regardless of the outcome of health care reform legislation, payment cuts to cancer care will continue until the message of Stop Cancer Care Cuts is delivered to our policymakers.

Help unite community oncology around this message by getting the word out to every American concerned about cancer and its treatment.

Thank you!
